This overnight trip is ideal for those who have time on their schedule to escape to one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia.

Villa de Leyva is a small town nearby Bogotá that take architectonic preservation very seriously. Spanish colonizer found it in 1972, and many of the houses that were built in that time are still beautifully preserve as national monuments. This is why going to this enchanting village gives you the sensation of going back in time.

The day starts with a hotel pick-up at your hotel at 7:00 am, you will be on a 2.5-hour drive where you will have your first stop at Ráquira. A colorful village which is famous for its long tradition of pottery work. While here you may stretch your legs, have and snack and walk around the village.

Then you’ll stop at El Infiernito before arriving Villa de Leyva. This place was an ancient Muisca Observatory to determine which was the best time to harvest crops. Next, we will go to the blue pond, which is a water reservoir created by farmers, which surprisingly turned the water’s color into a lively blue that contrasts with the arid vegetation.

Finally, you will arrive at Villa de Leyva at around 2:30 pm. As soon as you check in the beautiful cozy hotel that will be booked for you, feel free to go and walk around this charming and colonial village. We recommend that you start by the enormous Plaza Mayor, well the village was built around it. The colonial houses that are around it are now shops, restaurants, and hotels. You will find a big colonial church in one of the sides of this spectacular 14.000m2 cobblestone square. Stroll through the enchanting narrow stone streets where you will see the iconic whitewashed façades with rustic wooden doors of the village. As you walk around you will find many artisan shops where you might find the perfect souvenir.

On the second day, you may keep exploring the town, or we may help you to arrange any activity you may want to partake (at you own expense). Even though this is a small village, it has a wide range of activities to offer, the vary from hiking in natural parks, buggy races, horseback riding, bird watching, archeological sites, museums and historical buildings.

You will be picked up by our driver at 5 pm who will take you back to Bogotá.
